What to expect during your newborn session with Medford Oregon newborn photographer

Updated: Jan 4

I am so excited to meet you and your tiny human!

Adding to your family is such a big deal and an exciting time in your life.

Hopefully, this blog post will be helpful in explaining what will happen at your newborn session. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Once you have decided to book, I will use your due date as a place holder for your session. I only book a certain number of newborns per month to ensure all of my babies are photographed between 5-14 days after birth.

I am always available for a phone consult prior to your session if you would like. I base all my set ups on the information that you provide in your contract, so please overshare! Being able to create set ups based off your likes is one of my favorite things to do. There is no need to bring anything for your session. I provide all wraps, bonnets, headbands and props. If there is something special that you would like incorporated into your session, please bring it with you!

My newborn studio is located in downtown Medford, Oregon in a building that is over 100 years old, it's a beautiful space full of quirky details.

Please be aware there will be two flights of stairs to walk up.

When you arrive, the studio will be hot, I try to keep it at 80+ degrees for newborn session. If we aren't sweating, it's not warm enough. Please dress in layers and take a minute to step out, if need be, to cool off.

I keep my studio dark and cozy with a sound machine going, please feel free to REST while you are here. I do keep water and snacks stocked and you are welcome to grab them at any point during your session.

I like to start out your session with table posing, that would be forward facing, bum up, potato etc. I have a workflow that I like to use, but ultimately your newborn calls the shots and if they hate a pose, we just move on.

Next up prop posing! These are the cute bucket, bowl, box, etc. I love to have two or three set ups ready for baby. If there is a specific prop that you would like me to use, please let me know.

And last but not least family posing. I offer the option of lifestyle family images in the bedroom set up or posed on the paper backdrop.

Altogether, expect about 2 hours for our session. During this time, please feel free to relax! Grab a book, download your favorite Netflix show, take a snooze on the bed or the sofa! I am certified in newborn handling and safety and pride myself on being a professional baby snuggler. I always wear a mask during newborn sessions as your baby's safety is my main priority.

I hope this helps you understand more of what to expect with me. I love newborn sessions so much and am so happy to be your photographer!
